5 ways Ascale reduces its carbon footprint

Reducing our carbon footprint is not just a goal, it is a commitment that defines the way we work. At Ascale, we take responsibility for minimizing our environmental impact through concrete and measurable actions. Sustainability is not a distant goal, but a principle that guides every decision, every innovation and every step towards a more planet-friendly future.

We believe that every action counts. That is why we optimize resources, reduce energy consumption and reuse materials, always with an eye on efficiency and innovation. We know that industry plays a crucial role in the transition to a more sustainable model, and we are determined to be part of the change.

Our purpose is clear: to protect and preserve the planet. Here are five ways in which we work every day to achieve this:

1. Reduction of electricity consumption

Since January 2023, we have a large installation of photovoltaic panels in self-consumption that allows us to generate our own electricity, reducing our dependence on the grid and reducing CO₂ emissions. We also promote awareness within our team, because sustainability is everyone’s task.

2. We reuse the heat from our ovens.

We have an industrial dryer as a key part of our production process. To reduce its environmental impact, we have implemented two important improvements. On the one hand, we have optimized energy consumption, achieving a more efficient use of natural gas and electricity. On the other hand, we have incorporated a heat recovery system, which reuses waste heat from the pre-furnace, thus improving the thermal efficiency of the process. These innovations allow us to reduce energy consumption and make our production more sustainable, reducing the amount of CO2 released during the process.

3. Reduction of fossil fuel consumption

We shorten distances to reduce emissions. We prioritize local suppliers, minimizing transportation and thus our carbon footprint. Within our facilities, we eliminate the use of fossil fuels in internal logistics by using electric forklifts, significantly reducing emissions.

4.Reuse of raw materials

Nothing is wasted. At the pressing stage, we recover the atomized powder to optimize the consumption of the most used raw material. And when a material cannot be reincorporated into our process, we send it to the Pamesa Group’s atomizers, where it is reused to manufacture new atomized powder, thus closing the cycle of material utilization.

5. Own mines.

We have our own mines for the extraction of raw materials, which allows us to avoid long trips and reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation. By reducing the number of trips, we reduce fuel consumption and emissions, maintaining control over the environmental impact of our supply chain.

Ascale is registered in the carbon footprint registry of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. This voluntary carbon footprint registry records the company’s efforts to calculate and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activities.

Every decision we make is a step towards a more sustainable future. At Ascale, we continue to innovate to reduce our carbon footprint and demonstrate that the industry can evolve without compromising the planet.
