The 2026 Salone del Mobile once again transformed Milan into the premier international showcase for design, architecture and interior design. This year’s event made it clear that the spaces of the future will be more emotive, sustainable and focused on well-being.
Beyond specific colours or styles, these are some of the major trends that defined the 2026 Salone.
1. Nature, wellbeing and biophilic design
The connection with nature was one of the key themes of the fair. Earthy tones, organic materials, natural textures and sensory environments dominated many of the spaces.
The design aims to create warmer, more human interiors, where well-being, calm and visual comfort become essential elements.
2. The return of curved shapes
Curved, organic lines were evident in the furniture, lighting and interior design. Modular sofas, rounded pieces and soft forms brought fluidity and dynamism to the spaces.
A trend that moves away from the rigidity of traditional minimalism in favour of more welcoming environments.
3. Multifunctional and flexible spaces
Contemporary design continues to adapt to new ways of living and working. In Milan, solutions were unveiled that are designed for versatile spaces, combining functionality, comfort and aesthetics.
Modular furniture, flexible layouts and integrated technology were key features of many of the designs on display at the Salone.
4. Integrated and invisible technology
Technological innovation was introduced in a subtle and elegant way. Smart lighting, high-performance materials and integrated solutions were combined with warm, minimalist interiors.
The trend is towards technology that is increasingly invisible and seamless within the design.
5. The new luxury: craftsmanship, experience and authenticity
Luxury is evolving towards more emotional and experiential concepts. Brands have opted for fine materials, handcrafted pieces and spaces designed to evoke sensations.
Rather than simply displaying products, many installations sought to create immersive experiences and connect emotionally with visitors.
